American Cancer Society provides programs and services such as:

Hope Lodge

This service of the American Cancer Society provides lodging to those traveling for cancer treatment. Each Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free, temporary place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city.

In 2010, 31 Hope Lodges across the U.S. provided 220,000 nights of free lodging to nearly 50,000 patients and caregivers.

Clinical Trials Matching Service

This service of the American Cancer Society is a free, confidential program that helps patients find cancer clinical trials most appropriate to their medical and personal situations. Through a partnership with the Coalition of Cancer Cooperative Groups, we help to match patients with research studies that are testing new drugs or methods to prevent, detect or treat cancer.

This online program connects patients with more than 64,000 different treatment options.

Finding Cures Through Research

We fund and conduct research that helps us better understand, prevent, and cure cancer. The American Cancer Society is the largest non-governmental funder of cancer research in the United States, spending approximately $130 million each year to work to find cures.

We have spent more than $3.5 billion on cancer research since 1948 and have played a role in nearly every cancer breakthrough in recent history.
